I don't think you can "Re-Blog" like you can "Re-Tweet" on Twitter, but if I could I would ReTweet this great post by Heather Zempel on whether we are motivated by cause or by Christ. You need to read it.
And just in case you missed the buried link I'll give it to you once again...
Read it here.

I have been in an Ecclesiastes kind of place..."Meaningless! Meaningless! Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless!" (v1)This was the right reminder that my focus has been on the cause and not on Christ - Christ IS all meaning. Thanks for the 're-post'!
Feel free to engage in dialog here or in Heather's blog where I put this same comment: "Great post and quite thought provoking. But how do you lay down your life for a person other than taking up the cause of that person? Isn't the real issue being sure our cause is the cause of Christ? And, we know what that is. We are told in Matthew 18. IMHO, the Great Commission *is* the cause for which Christ followers are called to take on. Am I wrong?"
Just found this. I think part of the reason why we follow causes rather than Christ is because we want to be part of something significant. We want to be able to say that we were part of something bigger than us.
When I chose to follow Christ, I made the decision because I wanted something bigger inside of me. I wanted to be infused with meaning, not dropped into a set of gears like a cog in a great machine. If I feed the homeless because "it's the right thing to do", I've missed Christ.
I've stopped doing good things simply because they are right. I do good things because I want to please the one who taught me what good is.
